What is this?!?…wish you all the best, and I know a good plastic surgeon, he did a wonderful job on my “sad basset hound” eye, and he has a good sense of humour!..I cracked up when he said “it’s quite easy being a plastic surgeon, all you have to do is cut along the dotted line”!..then realized it was perhaps not so good to laugh that much, when somebody has a scalpel VERY close to your eye!

How the hell are you going to keep your glasses on buddy……..

Hope apart from the ear problem you are both well. I have moved jobs. Well kind of. I now work for a company called MBNL (Mobile Broadband Networks Limited)we look after both T-Mobile and H3G sites and i am now the Commercial Property Manager. Bit of a change from planning networks, I now look after the Rent, Rates, Utilities for over 18000 sites for both companies.

Will try to write again soon.

I’m not worried about my glasses. It’s more worrying with my hat. Remember Freddie “Parrot Face” Davies?
This is no biggie. I’m going to have a hole in my ear lobe for a while, but I’ll get over that. I’ll tell people it’s an old war wound, or start wearing very big ear rings!
BTW, nice having you drop in. Look round, there’s a lot to laugh at.

Quite the ordeal my friend. I am glad to hear it had a happy ending! I understand your being pleased with this outcome but if it were me I am afraid I would feel a tad miffed at not being told of the result sooner. At any rate, long life and happiness to the both of you.

Well now, these are my ideas on the good and properly lived life as well. I never tell people what I think they should be doing unless asked and only want the same from them in return. “Live and let live” are wise words indeed. By the way, I hit the 57-year mark in March and do not run anywhere. If I am on foot, I leave the house a bit early, light my pipe, and start walking.

Also, it’s amazing how others attempt to direct our habits according to their perceived ‘greater knowledge’ of our life risks. Let them get on with living their own lives fully. Forget us cigar smokers who enjoy, maybe, one a day.

Amazing how side tracked some folks can become simply by our asking a few simple questions. Well done sir!

I agree completely with your thoughts on longevity and the pipe and would extend it to cover diet as well.

Childhood?… sounds like my mum’s recipee for oxtails…ha ha…. still 25 years IS a long time!…AND the oxtailes are bloody good.

My grandmother (1888 – 1976) was an old timer in the cooking business. She trained as a cook from 1902 to lord knows when and kept house for a baptist priest for some years. There were no ounces or millilitres then.
“Boiled beef and carrots” was a standby in the traditional english kitchen. (Try it with diced flank steak..Yum!) I could watch her cook for hours.
And yes, the oxtails are bloody good!
